Tennessee doesn’t have a single center of clinical gravity. It has three, and they don’t help each other.
Nashville, Memphis, and Knoxville are separated by hundreds of miles and operate as distinct labor markets — a radiologist in one is not a realistic recruit for the others, and coverage arrangements rarely cross between them. Chattanooga and the Tri-Cities add two more self-contained markets on top.
What that leaves is a rural middle with no natural parent. The Cumberland Plateau sits between Nashville and Knoxville and draws depth from neither. West Tennessee outside Memphis has the same issue in reverse. Facilities in those areas aren’t on the periphery of a large market — they’re equidistant from several mid-size ones, which in staffing terms is the same as being far from all of them.
Tennessee has also moved administratively on remote supervision, which gives centers here a clearer footing than in states that haven’t acted at all.
ContrastConnect covers imaging centers across Middle Tennessee, West Tennessee, East Tennessee, the Tri-Cities, and the Cumberland Plateau — including Nashville, Memphis, Knoxville, Chattanooga, Clarksville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, Johnson City, Jackson, Kingsport, and Cookeville.
