California is one of the most active imaging markets in the country — home to RadNet, the nation's largest outpatient imaging operator, and dense facility networks across the state. It is also one of the first states to codify virtual contrast supervision into law. AB 460, signed by Governor Newsom on October 7, 2025 and effective January 1, 2026, amends Health and Safety Code Section 106985 to permit real-time audio-visual physician oversight in place of physical on-site presence — with defined requirements for on-site personnel and technologist training.
ContrastConnect is built to satisfy both the CMS permanent rule and AB 460, giving California facilities a compliant, scalable supervision model across every shift they operate.
